Description
The16 SUB ACTIVE SEALED was built in response to dealers asking for a larger active subwoofer at a more approachable price than the PRO models, and the engineering problem was fitting a 16-inch driver into an enclosure barely larger than the one built for The12.
The answer was a triple-stack magnet motor, which supplies the control a sealed alignment demands, and 42 millimetres of linear excursion so the driver moves the air the small cabinet cannot. Sealed rather than vented is a deliberate choice here — it trades maximum output for accuracy and transient response, which is the right trade in a room where the subwoofer has to start and stop with the picture.
The amplifier delivers a kilowatt RMS from an auto-sensing supply that accepts anything from 110 to 230 volts, and powers up on signal or stays on permanently as the installation prefers. It is the sensible entry into Ascendo bass for a room that does not need infrasonic capability.
