The12 SUB PRO is the smallest PRO subwoofer, and it is built for a specific problem: a room that needs proper bass and has 210 millimetres to give it. At 450 by 615 by 210 mm and 23 kg, it goes into places a subwoofer normally cannot.
Getting PRO behaviour out of that volume took a carbon Nomex pulp mix cone on a neodymium motor with triple shorting rings — the rings linearise the magnetic field as the coil moves, which is what keeps distortion low when a small driver is working hard. Twenty millimetres of excursion each way in a cabinet this shallow is the whole trick.
Efficiency is 88 dB, noticeably lower than the larger models, which is the honest cost of the format: it needs its 900 watts and it will not pressurise a large room the way an 18 or a 21 does. Ascendo's own guidance is to use two in smaller installations and scale the count up from there rather than expect one to do the work of something bigger.
What it does keep is the linearity that runs through the whole range, which is what lets it hand over to the main channels without a seam — and what lets it sit in the same system as the infrasonic models without fighting them.
