The18 SUB Passive Vented is the model Ascendo built to a price, and it is worth being clear about what that means here. It is not a PRO subwoofer with parts removed — it is a different design brief: an 18-inch vented cabinet tuned to 25 Hz, intended to give a room genuine low bass without the cost of the double-gap motors and long-throw suspensions the PRO range uses.

The trade shows in the excursion figure. Eight millimetres each way is modest next to the 45 mm of The24, so the output comes from cone area and the vented alignment rather than from brute displacement. In exchange the amplifier requirement drops to a single channel at 1000 W into 4 ohms, which changes the cost of the whole system, not just the cabinet.

The driver sits on a cast frame with a four-inch high-temperature voice coil chosen for durability under sustained use, and the enclosure is heavily braced. At 300 mm deep it still places behind a screen, along a side wall or at the back of the room.
