Description
The12 SUB Active Vented is the smallest and most approachable subwoofer Ascendo makes, and the only one in the range that arrives ready to run — amplifier, DSP and controls all on board, no external processing to specify.
The driver is a composite sandwich cone on a long-throw rubber surround, developed specifically for this cabinet rather than borrowed from the passive models, with 20 mm of excursion in each direction. The enclosure is vented through dual ports, which reduces the air velocity at each one and with it the chuffing that single-port designs produce when pushed.
Six hundred watts of Class D drives it, with a variable low-pass crossover from 40 to 150 Hz, continuously adjustable phase, and auto power on and off. It takes a balanced XLR LFE feed or unbalanced RCA line level, and passes both through to a further subwoofer — which is how you build up from one to a pair without adding a distribution amp.
It is also the only Ascendo subwoofer offered in a choice of finishes: black, white, or black ash. In a living room rather than a dedicated theatre, that matters more than another few decibels.
