Octave V 70 SE Integrated Amplifier

The Octave V 70 SE is a mid-tier line-level integrated amplifier delivering 2 x 70 W peak output power — the natural push-pull complement in Octave's current integrated range, sitting between the V 40 SE entry integrated and the V 80 SE flagship. Belonging to the same design family as the V 40 SE, the V 70 SE performs with more power while retaining the compact-integrated character. Outstanding features: control and dynamics. The V 70 SE plays rock-and-roll like rock-and-roll and celebrates classical music with delicate grace and solid expanse.

Like the V 40 SE, the V 70 SE benefits from the accumulated experience Octave has gained developing its predecessors. Numerous improvements over the previous V 70 model form the new V 70 SE. Embedded in the larger, optimized chassis construction of the V 80 SE, the V 70 SE now offers higher performance while the sensitive electronic circuits are better shielded against magnetic stray fields from the transformer and mains. The mains transformer itself is a special low-noise type encapsulated in a magnetically-closed box.

The output stage uses two power tetrodes (6550 JJ) per channel. Octave's BIAS Control and Monitoring System allows the use of other pin-compatible output tubes to match the amplifier to personal taste or benefit from newer tube types. Like all Octave amplifiers, the V 70 SE is based on the enhanced pentode configuration — the circuit that ensures absolute stability against unstable loudspeaker impedance. Impedance mismatch is without consequence; the V 70 SE is stable down to a 3-ohm load. A single-impedance output transformer contributes to this stability.
