Octave’s current stereo tube power amplifier — 2 x 130 W into 4 ohms push-pull, 25 Hz to 85 kHz, with SE technology from the V 80 SE.

Product Details

Description

The Octave RE 320 stereo power amplifier marks a significant evolution of Octave's stereo power amplifier series and is the current stereo amp in the range (successor to RE 290). The heart of the amplifier — the actual amplifier stage — has been completely revised for the first time using the SE technology developed for Octave's integrated amplifier flagship, the V 80 SE. As Roland Kraft observed in Stereoplay's test of the RE 320: 'We know of very few tube amplifiers that are so uncritical when it comes to loudspeakers and are therefore able to develop their sonic capabilities in practically any combination.'

The concept is based on the modern KT 150 power pentodes, which enable a maximum output power of approximately 2 x 130 W with two tubes in push-pull per channel. Performance bandwidth extends from 5 Hz to 85 kHz. Pulse power can reach over 200 W, guaranteeing the sovereignty and enormous reserves that characterize the effortless dynamics of the Octave sound. The interference signal level of more than -110 dB is so low that no hum or noise can be heard even with high-efficiency loudspeakers.

Practical features include fine BIAS adjustment via colored LEDs on the front panel, power selector switching for different tube types (KT 88, KT 120, KT 150 configurations), Eco Mode for reduced heat and power draw when idle, the connection for external Black Box or Super Black Box power supply upgrades, and switchable RCA and XLR inputs. The RE 320 impresses with a sound that is stable and reliable on all loads. Effortlessness is the defining character — thanks to enormous control, the sound image always remains tidy, believable in its dimensions, and shows even the finest facets with an irresistible naturalness.

Standard Octave Power Management, Soft-Start Electronics, Protection System, Eco Mode, BIAS Setting and Display, Power Selector, and (Super) Black Box Connection. Silver or Black chassis. Available at LMC.
