Linn Klimax Solo 800 Monoblock Amplifier

The Klimax Solo 800 is Linn's flagship monoblock power amplifier - the amplifier Linn recommends for its 360 Passive with Active Bass (PWAB) loudspeakers, and the reference-tier amplifier in the current Klimax amplifier hierarchy. It sits above the Klimax Solo 500 as the larger, more powerful monoblock in Linn's amplification range.

The numbers are extraordinary: 400W into 8Ω, 800W into 4Ω, and 1.2kW into 2Ω, with THD+N of just 0.0004% at 1kHz at full rated power into 8Ω - distortion so low it sits beneath the noise floor across most of the amplifier's operating range. Two technologies make this possible. Adaptive Bias Control continuously monitors, samples, and digitizes the current through the output devices, with an FPGA adjusting bias in real time to its optimal value - eliminating the fixed-bias compromises of conventional class-AB designs. The Utopik switch-mode power supply uses soft-switching and precision-regulated rails to deliver up to 2kW of stable power regardless of mains variation or load changes.

In a 360 PWAB system, one Klimax Solo 800 per channel drives the passive upper and midrange drivers while the 360's integrated Active Bass module handles the lower frequencies.
