Kimber Kable Silver Streak Interconnect

Silver Streak was Kimber’s first copper-and-silver hybrid, and it remains the Summit series interconnect that most reliably surprises people at its price. Two strands of TCSS copper and one of AGSS silver, braided in Kimber’s tri-braid geometry — three conductors woven so their relative positions change continuously along the run.

The tri-braid comes out of the same 1979 origins as the rest of Kimber’s range: Ray Kimber found that braiding conductors cancelled induced fields the way a shield would, but without a shield’s sonic penalty. In Silver Streak the geometry carries a deliberate mixed-metallurgy load — one silver strand contributing spatial precision and low-level resolution, two copper strands contributing tonal weight and dynamic body. It is the point in the Kimber lineage where the hybrid idea first appeared.

The result is smooth and open with dynamic range and pacing well beyond what the cost suggests — which is why it has stayed in the line for so long, and why it is the sensible first step for someone who has never taken cable seriously and is not yet convinced they should. Available in RCA with Ultraplate or WBT connectors, and in balanced XLR.

Silver Streak sits at the top of the Summit series interconnect range and just below KCAG in the classic braid lineage. In practical terms, it is the cable that either gets a system past the point where the interconnect is the constraint, or provides the point of comparison that makes the case for stepping further into Carbon or the Select 6000 range.
