Kimber Kable Carbon 16 Loudspeaker Cable

Carbon 16 sits between the Carbon 8 and the Carbon 18 XL, at 9 AWG aggregate per polarity, and for a great many systems it is the right place in that range to stop. Designed for full-range floor-standing loudspeakers and larger stand-mounted monitors — the loudspeaker profile that fills most reference-tier rooms without necessarily calling for a full-range 8 AWG cable.

The three Carbon loudspeaker cables share the Carbon braid geometry, VariStrand copper conductors, carbon-infused polymer as an electrostatic screen, low-loss fluorocarbon dielectric, and hand-soldered nitrogen-assisted WBT termination options. What Carbon 16 does not have is the central non-twisted parallel straight run that is unique to the flagship Carbon 18 XL — instead, Carbon 16 is a pure braided cable throughout.

What scale buys in the Carbon range is grip at the bottom end — the more demanding the loudspeaker’s impedance curve and the more extended its bass, the more the larger cables justify themselves. A loudspeaker of moderate sensitivity in a normally proportioned room rarely needs the 18 XL, and rarely gives up much to Carbon 16.
