Strato K is the reference movie player in the Kaleidescape range and the only one that plays 4K Cinematic titles — the highest-bitrate encodes Kaleidescape produces, taken from studio masters rather than the compressed files a streaming service delivers.

The distinction is not marketing. A Kaleidescape movie file is typically ten times the size of the streamed equivalent, retaining lossless multichannel audio and near-lossless video. Everything is downloaded and played from local storage, so playback quality never depends on what the internet is doing at eight o'clock on a Friday.

Internal storage holds roughly seven 4K Cinematic titles or ten standard 4K movies. Grouped with a Terra Prime server, that internal storage steps aside in favour of the server's capacity and the full Kaleidescape interface unlocks — the list view and the cover shuffle that the system is known for.
