dCS Bartók APEX Streaming DAC

The dCS Bartók APEX Streaming DAC is the entry point to the current dCS lineup — network streamer, Ring DAC APEX conversion, and an optional headphone amplifier in a single chassis. It is the least expensive way into genuine dCS engineering, and nothing about it reads as a concession.

The APEX designation is the substance: the same 2022 Ring DAC hardware advances found in Rossini and Vivaldi APEX — dCS's proprietary conversion architecture rather than an off-the-shelf converter chip — implemented in the Bartók chassis. PCM runs to 24-bit/384 kS/s with DSD/128 over network and USB, MQA decodes and renders in full, and inputs cover Ethernet, USB 2.0, AES, and S/PDIF. Streaming runs through the dCS Mosaic platform with Roon Ready certification, AirPlay, and UPnP.

The single-chassis argument is practical. Rossini and Vivaldi assume a listener with rack space and an appetite for components; Varèse assumes a five-unit reference installation. Bartók compresses reference-tier digital into one box — the digital front end for systems where efficiency matters and performance is non-negotiable. The optional headphone amplifier variant extends that logic further: Bartók with the headphone stage is a complete, serious headphone system anchor in a single component.

Construction is aerospace-grade machined aluminum with internal acoustic damping — the same physical standard as the rest of the APEX program.
