The Z evolution of the Relentless flagship — 2,200 watts into 8Ω and a new Z JFET input stage matched to the Relentless Z Preamplifier.

Product Details

Description

The Relentless Epic 1600 Z Monaural is the next step for the amplifier that already sat at the top of the Dan D'Agostino catalogue. Where the Epic 1600 reset the standard for the Relentless line, the Z evolution rebuilds its front end around a JFET input stage — the design philosophy D'Agostino introduced with the Momentum Z — and lifts rated output to 2,200 watts into 8 ohms, rising to 3,200 into 4 and 6,400 into 2 with adequate mains.

The point of the Z input stage is not power for its own sake. Its ultra-high input impedance lets the amplifier draw substantially more current from the Relentless Z Preamplifier, strengthening the electrical coupling between preamplifier and amplifier so the two behave as a designed pair rather than two components joined by a cable. Everything else that defines the Relentless flagship carries forward: fully balanced, complementary, discrete circuitry with no global negative feedback, D'Agostino's Super Rail topology driving the stages ahead of the output, the elliptical copper-and-aluminum heatsinks, and the Ballistic Meter behind mineral glass that ranges itself to the signal. The chassis is machined from solid aluminum with no visible fasteners.

At LMC the Relentless line is not an abstraction — it anchors the Scottsdale WAMM Room, where Relentless amplification does the most demanding job in the building, driving the Wilson WAMM Master Chronosonic within a full dCS Varèse and Clearaudio Statement chain. That is the context in which the character of a Relentless amplifier reveals itself, and it is the room where the Z evolution belongs.

Sold as a pair, in silver, black, or custom finish. This is the amplifier for loudspeakers with no practical limit — an Epic 1600 Z audition is built around the loudspeaker it will drive. Walk in during business hours or book ahead, and bring the recordings you know best.
