Description

The Momentum Z Monoblock marks the next generation of the Momentum program — introduced in celebration of Dan D'Agostino Master Audio Systems' fifteenth anniversary, and the most far-reaching rethink of the platform since the original Momentum defined it. This is not a revision but a new architecture: a proprietary Kinetic Drive Regulator power supply renders the amplifier immune to AC mains irregularities and the loudspeaker-interaction effects that degrade conventional designs, while a software-based control system continuously optimizes the operation of every circuit group.

The Z is also the first D'Agostino amplifier built on a JFET input stage — ultra-high input impedance and exceptionally low noise at the exact point where the signal is most fragile, preserving micro-level detail before amplification begins. The construction advances with it: each heatsink is 5-axis machined from a single 42-pound slab of copper billet in a highly efficient elliptical geometry, and the fascia carries the new Dual Domain Meter — a 3.5-inch high-resolution display paired with the iconic analog power wand. An integrated Ethernet connection exposes a live dashboard of operating voltages, temperature, bias, and DC offset from any browser on the home network.

The pair in Scottsdale carries a story few dealers can tell: it was hand-delivered to LMC's reference room by Dan D'Agostino himself. That is not a marketing flourish — it is the kind of relationship a dealer earns over decades, and it says something about where this installation sits in the designer's own estimation.

It is on demonstration now, doing reference work: Momentum Z monoblocks behind the Momentum C2/C2Z preamplifier, driving Wilson Alexia V — the loudspeaker Wilson designed for real-world reference rooms — sourced by a dCS Rossini APEX DAC with its Master Clock and an Akurate LP12 upgraded with Klimax Radikal motor control. Solid-state precision and dynamic control on a loudspeaker that rewards both. Sit down with the recordings you know best; the character of this amplifier declares itself quickly.
