Product Details

Description

The Burmester 216 is the Top Line’s stereo power amplifier — engineered to drive loudspeakers with the lowest impedance values and complex loads that flagship reference designs typically present, delivering transparent, spacious sound with superior dynamics. It joins the legendary family of Burmester power amplifiers that have won many international awards, combining powerful performance with musical warmth in a design language derived directly from the 159 Reference Mono flagship. Effortless control across the frequency range comes from a high damping factor; the amplifier is stable at all loads.

The design derives visually from the 159 monoblock: clear lines, screwless lid processing, minimal decorative elements, and the elegant restraint that defines the Top Line. As with the 218 in the Reference Line, the 216 uses the X-Amp fully balanced topology from input to output, DC-coupled signal paths, and Burmester’s characteristic silver-anodised heat sinks that identify every Burmester power amplifier at a glance. Hand-assembled in Berlin with the full Burmester manufacturing and quality-control process.

In an all-Burmester Top Line system, the 216 partners naturally with the 088 preamplifier as the power stage, or steps into a Reference Line chain below the 249 control stage where a stereo power amplifier is preferred to a pair of monoblocks. It drives loudspeakers from the BC150 through the BX100 with the current delivery and low-impedance stability those loudspeakers demand, and delivers a Top Line entry into the Burmester amplifier family at approximately half the price of a pair of 159 monoblocks.

At $35,000 in current Burmester pricing, the 216 is available for audition at the Scottsdale showroom. Walk in during business hours or book ahead for a prepared listening session against the specific loudspeakers you are considering pairing it with.
