Ascendo The32 SUB PRO

The32 SUB PRO is the model Ascendo is known for, and the numbers are the reason. A custom-built 32-inch woofer with 90 millimetres of linear travel displaces 16.6 litres of air per maximum stroke — half a cubic foot, or as much as fifteen standard 18-inch subwoofers moving together.

That matters for a reason beyond loudness. A large, light cone reaching a low resonant frequency solves the physics differently from a small cone forced downward, and it produces a much faster group delay at the same frequencies than the 12, 15 and 18-inch drivers ordinarily used in home and commercial cinema. The result is depth that arrives on time rather than trailing the picture.

The cabinet is sealed and internally braced in MDF and birch plywood. It is offered Active Sealed, with 6,000 watts RMS and full DSP control over a network interface, or Passive Sealed to be driven by Ascendo's own amplification. The Class D amplifiers are passively cooled, so nothing in the chassis makes noise in a room built to be silent.
