The21 SUB PRO occupies a specific place in an Ascendo system. It is not the infrasonic model — it is the one that handles the audible bass with authority, and it is engineered to stay in phase with the infrasonic subwoofers sitting beneath it.

That phase relationship is the whole argument for buying both. Two subwoofers covering adjacent bands will cancel and reinforce each other unpredictably unless they were designed together; Ascendo specifies The21 PRO to work in sync with its infrasonic models when a room is intended to reproduce content below 20 Hz with the same precision it reproduces the range above.

The driver uses a double-gap motor with two outer and two inner voice coils, which allows more linear travel and faster directional changes than a conventional motor at lower power compression. Ascendo's stated policy is to publish measurements carried out by independently certified third-party labs rather than in-house figures — which is unusual enough in this industry to be worth checking for yourself.
