Product Details
The TP-1000 is Analog Audio Design's playback-only reel-to-reel tape deck — the machine that took Christophe Martinez four years to design and put France back on the map for open-reel playback. The Absolute Sound named it a Golden Ear 2024. It is a 1/4-inch, 2-track, 15/7.5 ips deck with switchable NAB and IEC equalization, a belt-driven capstan and reel system running on Swiss-made low-torque DC motors, and a 30 cm maximum reel diameter.
Everything about the TP-1000 is aimed at the master-tape source: XLR balanced I/O at selectable levels, pitch control at 0.01 ips resolution, wow and flutter below 0.045% at 15 ips, and frequency response from 30 Hz to 22 kHz (±2 dB) at reference level. The 6.35mm headphone output on the front panel is engineered as a serious listening path in its own right. A touchscreen manages every operational parameter, and an RJ45 Ethernet port carries remote control and firmware updates.
Design references are explicit — Studer, Telefunken, and Tascam flagship-era mechanical philosophy — and every mechanical part is machined in AAD's own facilities in Pleumeur-Bodou, Brittany, the traditional cradle of French telecommunications engineering.
