Product Details
The McIntosh MCD350 is a purist two-channel SACD/CD player — no digital inputs, no headphone amplifier, no variable output, no volume control. This is a deliberate positioning choice: the MCD350 is designed for the buyer who owns a serious SACD/CD collection and wants a McIntosh disc source, without paying for DAC-for-external-sources flexibility they will not use.
The digital-to-analog conversion runs through a 32-bit/192 kHz PCM/DSD DAC in a balanced two-channel architecture. Fixed balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs connect to any McIntosh preamp or integrated amp with a line-level input — the MCD350 is not intended to bypass a preamp. Coax and optical digital outputs are provided for buyers who want to route the digital signal to an external DAC, processor, or home theater system. All analog outputs and the digital coax output are gold-plated for corrosion resistance.
Twin laser optical pickup with a single objective lens and two laser units — one wavelength optimized for SACD, the other for CD — assures optimal reading of both formats. 2x read speed buffers disc data for improved error correction and tracking. Precision die-cast aluminum tray provides quiet handling. Plays SACD, CD, CD-R/RW, plus MP3 and WMA files from data discs.
For a McIntosh system where digital source flexibility comes from a dedicated DAC or streamer elsewhere in the chain and the disc player's job is to read SACDs and CDs cleanly, the MCD350 is the focused answer. Pairs naturally with McIntosh integrated amps (MA5300, MA7200) or preamp/amp separates. Available at LMC — walk in during business hours or book ahead.
