Linn Bedrok™ Plinth Upgrade for Sondek LP12

Bedrok™ for Sondek LP12 is Linn’s first-ever plinth performance upgrade — introduced January 2025, and available for any Sondek LP12 regardless of vintage. Where every previous LP12 upgrade addressed the bearing, arm board, motor control, or power supply, Bedrok addresses the plinth itself: the wooden foundation the whole turntable rests on, and one of the most acoustically consequential elements in the assembly.

Bedrok is an engineered ultra-dense wood formed from orthogonal cross-plies of beech placed under extreme pressure and heat. The result is a plinth material with negligible internal resonance and superior acoustic isolation compared with the standard laminated hardwood plinths the LP12 has shipped with for decades. Where a standard plinth couples subtle vibration into the arm-and-cartridge system, Bedrok interrupts that path — the platter can rotate and the arm can trace the groove with the residual mechanical noise floor pushed measurably lower.

The performance step Bedrok delivers is Klimax-tier: an LP12 upgraded with Bedrok reaches the plinth-level performance of the Klimax LP12 without any of the other Klimax component upgrades. Combined with a Radikal motor control unit and Keel SE arm board and subchassis, an existing Sondek LP12 of any vintage can be brought to complete Klimax specification with three targeted component upgrades — the argument for the Sondek platform in its most literal form.
