Linn Keel SE LP12 Subchassis

Keel SE is Linn’s reference-tier arm board and subchassis assembly for the Sondek LP12 — a single-billet aircraft-grade aluminum component that supports the tonearm and links it to the sprung sub-chassis. It is one of the four defining component upgrades that separate a Klimax-spec LP12 from a Selekt or Akurate specification (the others being the Radikal motor control, Bedrok plinth, and Ekstatik cartridge).

The engineering rationale is that any acoustic discontinuity where different materials meet — a laminated arm board, a bonded subchassis, mixed aluminum-and-steel construction — introduces small resonances that pass through the arm and back into the cartridge. By machining the arm board and subchassis assembly from a single billet of aircraft-grade aluminum, all such discontinuities are eliminated. The mechanical support is uniform and continuous through every point of contact between the platter, the arm, and the plinth.

An existing Selekt LP12 with Kore subchassis, or any earlier LP12 with a Trampolin baseboard-only arrangement, can be upgraded in place to Keel SE — one component step toward complete Klimax specification. Combined with Klimax Radikal (motor control) and Bedrok plinth, an existing Sondek LP12 becomes a Klimax LP12 in every mechanical and acoustic sense, without any of the other components changing hands.
