Clearaudio Verify Magnetic Bearing Tonearm

The Verify is the magnetic-bearing tonearm in Clearaudio’s range — the arm where Clearaudio’s patented magnetic-bearing technology actually sits (distinct from the precision ball-bearing gimbal on the Universal, the jewelled tungsten-and-sapphire watchmaker bearing on the Tracer, and the handmade Swiss vertical-and-lateral bearings on the Satisfy family). Preinstalled and factory-configured on Clearaudio’s concept and Performance DC turntables, it is also available separately on order for retrofit on other compatible chassis.

Clearaudio describes the Verify as presenting “innovative and groundbreaking magnetic bearing technology in an elegant package,” and the description is precise. The bearing is friction-free — no ball, no jewel point, no thrust pad in contact — which removes an entire category of resonance and drag from the arm’s behaviour. Around that bearing Clearaudio builds a super-solid, resonance-optimised carbon-fibre armtube; an aluminium resonance-free headshell that fine-adjusts for cartridge alignment and azimuth; and a finely adjustable counterweight that sets the exact tracking force.

Signal transfer runs through a hardwired 1 m Clearaudio Direct Wire cable, chosen for signal integrity all the way from the cartridge pins to the phono preamplifier. The Verify reaches its optimum sound when partnered with the concept mc cartridge on the concept turntable — the operating point Clearaudio designed the arm around. Beyond that pairing, the Verify also serves as the factory-standard arm on the Performance DC and is compatible with the majority of MM and MC cartridges Clearaudio offers.
