Clearaudio’s mid-tier tangential tonearm — 40 hours of hand assembly, purely mechanical ball bearings running in a polished glass tube, roughly 2 kg.

Product Details

Description

The TT2 is Clearaudio’s mid-tier tangential tonearm — direct descendant of the American-made TQ-1 (Souther Tri-Quartz) design, whose maker Clearaudio acquired in the 1980s and has been refining ever since. It sits between the Statement TT1 flagship above and the TT3 / TT5 entry arms below, and is the tangential arm Innovation-family turntable owners generally choose when they want linear tracking without stepping into the Statement TT1 price bracket.

The TT2’s precision drive is deliberately, purely mechanical — no servos, no motors, no air pumps. Two dry-running high-precision ball bearings run in a calibrated polished glass tube, delivering almost complete freedom from friction. The resonance-optimised chassis carries Clearaudio’s patented two-point tangential tracking geometry, and each TT2 takes approximately forty hours to assemble by hand. The finished arm weighs nearly two kilograms — extremely stable, finely adjustable in height, and finished in aluminum silver.

The linear-tracking principle is the same one that runs through the entire Clearaudio tangential family. The stylus follows the record groove along the same straight-line tangent the cutting head traced when the record was mastered. Replay tracking angles are identical to cutting angles, horizontal skating force is virtually eliminated, and no anti-skating compensation is required. Wiring is 2 m of Clearaudio’s Sixstream Super Wire, terminated with MPC Cinch RCA plugs.

The TT2 is best paired with an Innovation-family turntable — Innovation, Innovation Compact, Master Innovation, Reference Jubilee, or Master Jubilee. Available on order at LMC Scottsdale — walk in during business hours or book ahead if the audition needs a TT2-vs-TT3-vs-Statement TT1 comparison with your specific turntable.
