Product Details
The concept mc Signature is the refined version of Clearaudio’s concept mc — same fundamental architecture, same low-output moving-coil design, but with tighter production tolerances and a refined body treatment that step the retrieval into a higher band than the base cartridge. It sits at the top of Clearaudio’s entry-tier moving-coil range, above the concept mc and below the tonewood-bodied Concerto V2.
The body is an aluminum-magnesium alloy with an anodised coating — an evolution of the concept mc’s ceramic surface layer. Inside sits the same independent-coils-in-V-configuration that Clearaudio uses across the concept mc range, from the same architectural family as the symmetrical design used on Talisman V2 and up. OFC copper coils, solid boron cantilever, Micro Line diamond stylus — all shared with the concept mc. What differentiates the Signature is the tolerance stack: hand-selected magnets bring channel matching to within 0.3 dB (versus 0.5 dB on the base concept mc), and the anodised body treatment tightens resonance behaviour.
Measured, the concept mc Signature delivers 0.4 mV output into an 11 Ω internal impedance — low enough to want a proper MC phono stage (Clearaudio’s own nano phono V2, smart phono V2, or basic V2 all match well). 8.0 g body mass, 2.0–2.2 g tracking force, 20 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response. The 11 Ω internal impedance is characteristic of a genuine low-output MC and shouldn’t be confused with the higher-output moving-magnet Concept MM.
The concept mc Signature is the right cartridge for a concept Signature or Performance DC turntable where the listener wants to step above the base concept mc without jumping into the tonewood Concerto V2 tier. Available on order at LMC Scottsdale — walk in during business hours or book ahead if the audition needs a concept mc-vs-Signature-vs-Concerto comparison with your specific system.
Low-output moving-coil — requires a proper MC phono stage; the concept Signature refines the base concept mc with tighter production tolerances
Aluminum-magnesium alloy with an anodised coating — refined version of the ceramic-coated body used on the base concept mc
Solid boron rod — Clearaudio has used boron cantilevers for over forty years
Micro Line diamond — fine-line profile for accurate groove tracing
Independent coils in V configuration — same architectural family as the symmetrical design used on Talisman V2 and up
