Sonus faber has been building loudspeakers reminiscent of stringed instruments since 1983. Distinguished by their wood cabinetry and sleek lines, they have left a real mark on high-end audio. The Suprema represents the culmination of the brand's 40-year commitment to the craft, and the company's self-described most ambitious project to date.
The Suprema is a four-column system: two loudspeakers, two subwoofers, and an electronic crossover. The main columns use a 4.5-way driver arrangement and the iconic Sonus faber lute shape, while the subwoofers take the elliptical form of the Stradivari. The materials combine carbon fibre and wood for durability and harmonic behaviour, and the fronts of the main columns are finished in premium leather from Poltrona Frau.
The design philosophy reaches past conventional loudspeaker aesthetics, producing something that integrates into a serious listening room rather than dominating it.
