LMC Home Entertainment welcomed Paul Carlin, Linn Brand Ambassador and Product Trainer, to our Scottsdale showroom for an in-depth exploration of the iconic Linn Sondek LP12. This focused clinic delivered insight into the engineering, upgrade paths, and performance philosophy behind one of the most celebrated turntables in high-end audio.
Guests experienced firsthand how thoughtful design and continuous innovation define truly exceptional analog performance.

Linn Sondek LP12: a revolution in turntable design
Since revolutionizing the hi-fi industry in 1973, the Linn Sondek LP12 has demonstrated the profound musical difference a superbly engineered turntable can make to any system. Over five decades, more than fifty retrofittable mechanical and electrical upgrades have refined its original design.
A key highlight of the clinic was the LP12's modular architecture, which allows listeners to build the turntable to their own specification. With three pre-configured LP12 versions spanning the spectrum of performance, the Sondek ecosystem offers a clear path toward vinyl playback excellence while maintaining Linn's philosophy that choice should empower, not overpower.
Bedrok plinth upgrade and LP12 upgrade paths
A central focus of the session was the Bedrok plinth — the first plinth performance upgrade Linn has offered for the LP12. Formed from orthogonal layers of beech placed under extreme pressure and heat, this engineered, ultra-dense material offers negligible resonance and superior acoustic isolation. The result is greater stability and performance at the source.
Beyond the clinic itself, Paul led hands-on training with our team, keeping us current on precision turntable installation and setup.
A reference-level LP12 with the Bedrok plinth is on demonstration in our Scottsdale showroom. Come hear what true analog performance can achieve.
