ULTIMATE-collection phono interconnect — the CFC and IFER architecture of Reference RCA, retuned for cartridge-level signals and calibrated to your arm.

Product Details

Description

The Reference Phono Interconnect (RCA) is the entry point into Transparent’s ULTIMATE collection — also called the CONNOISSEUR collection in Transparent’s current branding — for the vinyl chain, and the first Transparent phono cable calibrated not just to length but to the specific electrical output characteristics of your cartridge and the load characteristics of your phono stage. Reference Phono uses the same core cable, connectors, and network housing architecture as Reference RCA Interconnect, retuned inside the network for the delicate low-voltage signals a moving-coil or moving-magnet cartridge generates rather than the line-level signal an RCA interconnect handles.

Two carbon fiber composite (CFC) network modules per channel replace the acrylic housings used at Ultra tier — stiffer, lighter, with larger internal cavities filled with IFER (Integrated Flexible Epoxy Resin) to mass-load network components against vibration and resonance. Heavy precision-wound OFHC stranded copper carries signal to sturdy gold-plated RCA connectors, with a mini-spade ground wire standard. Optional custom DIN termination is available at the tonearm end, fabricated to precise tonearm, turntable suspension, and phono preamp requirements, with a contoured coupler for smooth cable-to-termination transition and two strain-relief methods so cable weight doesn’t load the arm. Optional differential-balanced termination is available at the phono-stage end for true balanced phono preamps — that variant is sold as Reference Phono Balanced.

Reference Phono is designed for systems being built toward connoisseur tier — a resolving turntable, tonearm, and phono stage where cable calibration to the specific cartridge starts to produce audible differences. Because the network is tuned to a specific chain, Transparent needs the tonearm make and model, the cartridge, and the phono stage before manufacture. Level-matched ULTIMATE companions include Reference RCA, Reference Balanced, Reference Speaker Cable, and Reference Power Cord. Fully upgradeable to XL, Opus, or Magnum Opus Phono through Transparent’s Upgrade Program, with original investment retained. Warranty registration extends to lifetime and entitles owners to free network recalibration when a cartridge change moves the electrical characteristics enough to require it.

Phono cables reward audition in the system they’ll actually serve more than almost any other category — the interaction between cartridge output, cable calibration, and phono-stage input is specific enough that a generic demo isn’t a fair test. Walk in during business hours or book ahead if the decision is tied to a particular cartridge and phono stage combination and the audition needs the actual chain in place.
