The pinnacle of tonearm cable design — the outrigger network on a PMMA-and-IFER platform, calibrated to your specific cartridge, arm and phono stage.

Product Details

Description

The Magnum Opus Phono Interconnect (RCA) is the pinnacle of Transparent’s phono cable design and the TRANSCENDENT-collection flagship on the vinyl signal path. It shares the same architecture as Opus Phono — iconic outrigger network housing filled with IFER (Integrated Flexible Epoxy Resin), reconfigured PMMA-and-IFER platform (stiffer, heavier, more stable, more vibration-nulling than Opus), thin thermoplastic sound-damping laminate, fasteners bored deeply into the IFER mass at specific torque — executed for the extreme signal characteristics of the cartridge-to-phono-stage link. All Magnum Opus network components are matched and measured at the edge of what technicians can control in production.

The network is calibrated to the electrical characteristics of your cartridge, your tonearm, and your phono stage — the entire vinyl chain, not just one component — with a precision Opus Phono production doesn’t reach, ensuring the highest possible transmission accuracy for the very-low-level signals coming off a cartridge. Standard RCA-to-RCA with a mini-spade ground wire; optional custom DIN termination is available at the tonearm end (MOPHDIN, $1,100 upcharge), fabricated to precise tonearm, turntable suspension, and phono preamp requirements; optional differential-balanced termination (MOPHDIFBAL, $3,000 upcharge) is available for true balanced phono preamps and is sold as Magnum Opus Phono Balanced. Manufacturing runs multi-day per pair.

Magnum Opus Phono is designed for the finest vinyl chains ever made — the dream turntables, tonearms, cartridges, and phono stages built up over years of component decisions. Because the network is calibrated to a specific chain — tonearm, cartridge, phono stage — Transparent needs all three specified before manufacture, and Magnum Opus is customized to the very edge of production tolerance for the specific chain. Level-matched TRANSCENDENT companions include Magnum Opus RCA, Magnum Opus Balanced, and Magnum Opus Speaker Cable. This is the top of the Transparent phono cable hierarchy — no upgrade path above. Warranty registration extends to lifetime and entitles owners to free network recalibration when a cartridge change requires network adjustment.

Phono cables at the Magnum Opus tier reveal their difference over Opus Phono only in the actual chain — the interaction between cartridge output, cable calibration, and phono-stage input is specific enough that no generic demo can fairly represent it, and the tolerance difference between Opus and Magnum Opus is the kind of change that shows up on familiar recordings with the actual chain in place. Walk in during business hours or book ahead if the audition needs the actual turntable, cartridge, and phono stage in place.
