REL PL-2 Slimline Planar Subwoofer

PL-2 is the larger of REL's two Planar subwoofers and the answer to the oldest objection to owning one — that it means putting a cube on the floor. The cabinet is 5.7 inches deep. It mounts on a wall, sits tight against one, or rides on REL's optional Planar Cart, and it does that without giving up the output a room actually needs.

A front-firing 8-inch long-throw FlatPiston active driver works against a rear-firing 10-inch FibreAlloy passive radiator, driven by a 550W Class D amplifier, reaching 24Hz at -6dB in room. The design premise is boundary reinforcement: a driver radiating against a wall couples to it, and the wall disperses bass through the room rather than firing it across the floor. The result has height and depth to it in a way a floor-standing cube does not. Airship Direct wireless is built in and pre-paired at the factory — no app, no configuration, connect power and position it. Particularly useful in rooms built around in-wall or in-ceiling loudspeakers, where floor space and sightlines are already spoken for.
