HT/1205 MKII sits in the middle of Serie HT — a front-firing 12-inch long-travel driver in a sealed cabinet, on amplification rated at 500 watts continuous. REL's naming convention is a shorthand for the specification: 12-inch driver, 500 watts.

The MKII generation brought technologies down from the HT/1510 Predator, with larger magnets and upgraded suspension pushing output roughly fifty per cent above the model it replaced while improving precision rather than trading it away. Custom filters minimise distortion caused by soundtrack content extending below what a 12-inch driver can usefully reproduce. As with the rest of Serie HT, the emphasis is multichannel film rather than two-channel integration, and connectivity is via .1/LFE and phono inputs rather than the high-level Speakon connection used across REL's music-first models. The right size for most dedicated rooms that do not need the Predator's scale.
