The analog alternative to digital room correction — eight bands from 25 Hz to 10 kHz at ±12 dB each, plus a TILT control for overall tonal balance.

Product Details

Description

Where the MEN220 measures and corrects a room digitally, the McIntosh MQ112 Environmental Equalizer is the analog, by-ear alternative — an 8-band equalizer spanning 25Hz to 10kHz, each band adjustable ±12dB, for a listener who prefers to shape a system by listening rather than by microphone. A TILT control shifts overall tonal balance ±6dB in a single motion, useful for compensating an unusually bright or dark recording without touching the individual bands.

The MQ112 is as much a tool for imperfect recordings as it is for imperfect rooms — older masters, thin transfers, or a particular vocal range that needs taming find their fix here, source by source, rather than as a permanent system-wide correction. It connects through the Processor Loop on current McIntosh preamplifiers, the same insertion point used by the MEN220. Available at LMC — walk in during business hours or book ahead.
