Contact UsCompact McIntosh power distributor — TPMOV surge protection, EMI filtering and over/under-voltage protection for secondary racks and MI installations.
Product Details
The McIntosh MIP200 is the compact-format entry in the current McIntosh power-control lineup — sitting alongside the MPC500 and MPC1500 above but sized for the installations those larger units are oversized for. Secondary racks, distributed-audio equipment closets, MI-series multi-channel installations feeding rooms elsewhere in a home. The kind of role where a full-scale isolation transformer would be architectural overkill but comprehensive surge and line protection is still required to safeguard the component investment.
The engineering runs on line-to-neutral surge protection via a thermally-protected metal-oxide varistor (TPMOV) — a safer implementation than the standard MOV, addressing the common failure mode where an MOV overheats and fails silently after repeated absorption events. Alongside, electromagnetic-interference (EMI) filtering keeps AC noise off the connected components, and programmable over-voltage / under-voltage protection shields against lightning-strike surges, overvoltage incidents, and brownouts alike. Type B (NEMA 5-15R) service: 100–120 V, 50/60 Hz, 12 A maximum, 11.6 A / 1160 W continuous. Type F (Schuko) service: 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz, 6 A maximum, 5.8 A / 1275 W continuous.
The chassis is built to the same black-glass, illuminated-logo, aluminum-end-cap industrial standard as every other McIntosh component — which matters when the MIP200 sits alongside MI-series distributed amplifiers and other McIntosh electronics that the installer wants to look visually coherent in the equipment closet or secondary rack.
The MIP200 is the right unit for a secondary system, a distributed-audio equipment closet, or an MI-series multi-channel installation — the compact-format answer for racks that don’t need the isolation-transformer scale of the MPC1500 or the 8-outlet capacity of the MPC500. Available on order at LMC Scottsdale — walk in during business hours or book ahead if the audition needs the MIP200 heard in an MI-series installation context.
