Product Details
The McIntosh MEN220 Room Correction Processor puts RoomPerfect — the room-correction technology developed by Steinway Lyngdorf and licensed by McIntosh — into a standalone stereo component, alongside custom EQ and a 2-way crossover. It measures reflections and reveals peaks and dips in a room's frequency response using the included calibrated microphone, then corrects for them; a first reading near the listening position typically returns a room-knowledge score around 75%, and additional measurements from other spots in the room push that figure higher.
The MEN220 connects through the Processor Loop found on current McIntosh preamplifiers (C2800, C55, C12000, and others in this catalog) — inserted between preamp and power amp without disturbing the rest of the signal chain. For a room that resists acoustic treatment or speaker relocation, it is the McIntosh answer to correcting what the room does to the sound rather than compromising the system to match it.
