Linn 343 Floor-Standing Loudspeaker

The Linn 343 is Linn’s compact reference loudspeaker: a 4-way floor-standing design and the first Linn loudspeaker engineered around the Pistonik drive unit from the outset. It sits beneath the flagship 360 in Linn’s range and carries the same proprietary technologies — Exakt, Organik DACs, Power DAC, the Utopik power supply and Adaptive Bias Control amplification — into a cabinet 338 mm wide and 1,091 mm tall on its stand. In Linn’s own words, it offers “performance without imposition and presence without bulk.”

Low frequencies come from a down-firing 220 mm (8-inch) Pistonik bass driver positioned close to the floor, where the boundary helps it deliver bass energy into the room evenly while the full mass of the loudspeaker works against the driver’s reactive energy. A 190 mm (6-inch) Pistonik upper-bass driver handles the band where much of music’s body and weight is formed; together the two carry around 70% of the speaker’s acoustic workload. The 64 mm midrange and 19 mm tweeter use thin-ply woven carbon domes. The cabinet is a glass-fibre-reinforced moulded composite with a continuous, hard-edge-free form that reduces diffraction, so the stereo image stays stable across a wide listening area, and its 43-litre volume houses both the bass system and the electronics module.

343 is built in two variants. 343 Exakt Integrated houses the Utopik power supply, Exakt digital crossover, Power DAC bass drive, Organik DACs and Adaptive Bias Control amplification in a module at the rear of each cabinet, so each speaker needs only an Exakt Link connection from a Linn DSM. 343 Passive with Active Bass (PWAB) keeps the same Pistonik bass system with its Utopik and Power DAC electronics, while the upper-bass, midrange and tweeter array is driven by your own amplification through three pairs of binding posts — and it can later be run fully Exakt with an Exaktbox and six amplifier channels. In both, the module sits on a three-point spring mounting that isolates it from the cabinet, and a passive chimney-style heat sink cools it in silence through a machined vent at the top of the loudspeaker. Space Optimisation room correction is available with a Linn DSM.

Six finishes are offered across Linn’s Glasgow, Signature and Classic collections — Clyde Built, Single Malt, Linn Heritage, Triton, Piano Black and Alpine White — with the array trim in black. 343 is coming soon to LMC Scottsdale.
