The Beauty of Live Music
There is simply no substitute for live music. Whether it’s rock, jazz, classical symphony, blues, country….whatever your preferred flavor. One year on St. Patrick’s Day I was in a packed restaurant at lunchtime and four guys in full Irish dress walked through the joint playing Amazing Grace on bagpipes. It was so loud and so intense and one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed. Everyone in the restaurant, including myself, were crying our eyes out and I can’t even put my finger on why. Seeing a live performance evokes an emotional response with most of us.
A great hifi system has the ability to do the same and transport the listener. With that thought in mind we’ve decided to share with you some of our favorite live albums. There are so many great live recordings worthy of mention here that it’s difficult to limit this list to just a handful, but here are few that we think stand out for various reasons. Please let us know what you think.
- Sara Bareilles – Brave Enough: Live at the Variety Playhouse
- Eva Cassidy – Live at Blues Alley.
- Alice In Chains – MTV Unplugged album
- Ray Brown Trio – Live At The Loa
- Harry Belafonte – Belafonte: At Carnegie Hall
