Description

The RS100 wireless speaker allows you to easily add streaming music capabilities to any room you want. It features DTS Play-Fi^®technology that gives the freedom and flexibility to wirelessly play the music on your mobile devices over your existing Wi-Fi network. Simply connect the RS100 to your Wi-Fi network, install the Play-Fi Apple or Android mobile app or Windows desktop app and then you’re ready to stream your music. The RS100 is a great first piece to introduce yourself to McIntosh’s legendary sound quality and performance standards (standards not found in any other Play-Fi device except our MB50 Streaming Audio Player).

A single RS100 is all that is needed to start building your wireless speaker system; more can be added over time to expand your system. Up to 16 speakers can be connected to a single Wi-Fi network – enough for stereo playback in 8 separate rooms. With the Play-Fi app installed on all your devices, each device can stream different music to each room, giving all family members or guests control over what they want to hear in their room.

Besides accessing your personal music library, the apps have built-in support for many leading online streaming services including Amazon Prime Music, Deezer, KKBox, Pandora^®, Qobuz, QQMusic, Rhapsody^®, SiriusXM^®, Songza, Spotify^® and TIDAL (list subject to change), letting you enjoy all your streaming music on your RS100. The RS100 is an Amazon Works With Alexa certified product. Simply speak to your Alexa control device to operate your RS100 from any room. You can designate the RS100 as your Alexa Preferred Speaker in the Alexa app, then you’ll no longer need to specify the RS100 by name in order for music to play on it. Voice commands as simple as “Alexa, play top-40” to a linked control device will initiate playback on the RS100.

Not limited to just streaming, the RS100 is flexible thanks to its auxiliary input which allows it to be used in non-streaming setups; it can quickly be switched back and forth between the two inputs to accommodate your listening preference. A subwoofer output is included along with a USB port for firmware updates. Two internal Wi-Fi antennas help ensure a strong network connection for smooth playback; it can also be hardwired to your network via a USB-to-Ethernet adapter (not included).

A big advantage of DTS Play-Fi compared to many other streaming options is that with its Critical Listening mode, native playback of up to 24-bit/192kHz high-resolution files is available with no down-sampling as of January 2017 (update your Play-Fi app to the latest version to utilize this feature). Many common audio formats are compatible with the RS100, including .mp3, .m4a, .flac and .wav files; DLNA is supported.

The RS100 is our first speaker to ever feature a blue meter and knobs. It incorporates many classic design cues from our amplifiers and preamplifiers to produce a wireless speaker that is unmistakably McIntosh. An easy to remove magnetically attached grille trimmed with brushed aluminum end caps completes the timeless look.
