Our experience with residential control systems came from developing AMX home theater control systems where, aside from controlling audio / video equipment, they provide controls for theater lighting, HVAC systems, drapes and can be integrated into exisitng home security systems.

Common applications for whole home systems include lighting and environmental control, security camera monitoring, security systems, and door/gate access control. All of these independent systems can be monitored and controlled by a single AMX touch screen panel.
